Barred Rock is a recognised chicken variety, adults bearing black feathers with white mottling. Our Barred Rock chicks are selected at the breeding farm for better meat yield and feed conversion than heritage breeds, and are multi-purpose birds leaning more towards egg production than meat. They are hardy pasture / free-range birds. Like our other specialty varieties, we only supply Barred Rocks to meet special order requests. Barred Rocks are sold as 'straight run' with no separation of male and female chicks.
