Description

These large flake bio-secure pine shavings are ideally suited to poultry farming, especially the brooding stage where chicks are susceptible to bacterial infection through healing navels as well as fungal growth in non-sterile bedding. We highly recommend this product for brooding chicks from day 1 to 14, instead of options that include chipped up green plant material (recycled garden clippings and landscaping by-product) as the latter can often include food sources for fungal growth. Unlike Pine Shavings, chipped up plant material has been found to cause mortality in brooding chicks when fungii grow and release spores that infect the chick's lungs and crop. Alternative litter is more suitable to older birds, layer flocks and livestock stall bedding. Suncoast Poultry Shaving packaging: 13.2 kg (29lb) bag, expands to 12 cubic feet (72 square feet of poultry litter at 2" depth).
